In this project we want to center on the perspective of migrant and displaced persons, ensuring that their voices, experiences, and needs are represented in second-language learning and basic education courses and in society. It promotes inclusive education by developing materials that reflect diverse cultural backgrounds and facilitate social integration through language skills and exchange of experiences. By addressing barriers to education (linguistic, cultural, and socio-economic), the project contributes to equal opportunities in learning. The inclusion of target groups with fewer opportunities is a main aspect in this project.
VOICES fosters civic engagement by incorporating stories and experiences of migration, historical and political education into learning materials, helping learners to understand their rights, responsibilities, and roles in society.
It strengthens European values such as democracy, inclusion and human rights by integrating them into language and basic education and strengthens European identity. Through participatory methods, it actively involves migrant learners, empowering them as co-creators of learning resources and strengthening their sense of belonging.
By raising the awareness on the importance of democracy and political education, the inclusion and rights of minorities and marginalised groups by learning from historical examples and collective memory. History shows what can happen when these rights are denied or threatened.
Furthermore the project provides educators with new methodologies and tools to teach second language and basic education learners effectively. The workshops and resources developed will equip teachers with skills to create inclusive and engaging learning environments. By providing innovative material (audio/videomaterial) activities and practices of trainers will enable transformation and change at individual, organizational and even on sectoral level.
The project develops innovative methodologies that integrate real-life migration narratives into language learning and basic education courses. It promotes learner-centered and participatory approaches that emphasize oral history-based methods, digital tools, and interactive methods. By this, motivation of the learners will be increased and, above all, their voices (voices of the interviewed and voices of learners who interview) will be heard.
By highlighting migrant perspectives, the project fosters intercultural understanding and reduces stereotypes. It encourages dialogue between different generations and communities through shared migration experiences. The methodology will emphasize inclusive and community-based learning. The aim is to ensure knowledge of history and political education and so prevent radicalisation and disinformation.
Furthermore to promote active citizenship by encouraging migrants to engage in civic life through language learning and social participation, which enables transformation and change at individual level.
